Why Goldendoodles?

The Goldendoodle, a hybrid of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, is highly sought after for its exceptional temperament and allergy-friendly, low to no shedding coat. Available in various sizes, suitable for different living environments, from apartments to houses with yards. Doodles are known for gentleness with children and unwavering loyalty to the entire family.

Beyond being a great companion, Goldendoodles are increasingly valued in service roles, including Service, Guide, Therapy, and Search & Rescue Dogs. Noteworthy traits include a strong desire to please, ease of training, attentiveness, loyalty, sociability, sweet and gentle nature, patience, and the ability to focus in chaotic environments. The Goldendoodle will always stand out as a top choice for those seeking a versatile and loving canine companion!

Using DNA to Determine Coat Traits

Goldendoodles start as adorable fluffballs, with their coats showing smoothness at birth. However, by 4 weeks, a distinctive wave or curl emerges, fully developing by 4 months. Beyond 6 months, their coat continues to evolve, adopting the sought-after wavy or curly appearance with minimal shedding.

The Algebraic and Mendelian Generation Methods (which are percentage-based calculations of the two breeds) are sometimes used to determine characteristics and traits, which are fascinating to study.

However, it’s essential to know that these methods are not the best way to determine the type of coat and traits of a Goldendoodle. If you only use the generation methods, you will get some F1b type Doodles that have taken on Poodle traits and others that have taken on Golden Retriever traits. Generations can play a role in the Doodle breeding process, however, it is the genetic make-up that determines the coat and color of the litter. Here at Forever My Doodle, we use DNA to achieve our desired results .

Our focus and decisions in breeding are important; we use the structure, temperament, and DNA to help guide us. Please note that God is the ultimate creator and will design what He pleases, so even though we go above and beyond in our research to breed, your Goldendoodle could always have some traits that not same as the parents.
